March 2010
“It is the mission of Calvary Chapel and The Church of the Transfiguration to witness to Jesus Christ in worship, study, fellowship and care for our community and world.”
Dear Parishioners:
Normally you are used to reading a spiritual message in this portion of
the Clarion; however, this month, this forum will be used to provide an
update of what has transpired since our annual meeting.
While without a permanent
rector we will rely on visiting Clergy to conduct Sunday services.
During this transition, please make every effort to support our
visiting Clergy by attending church whenever possible and invite a
friend or neighbor to worship with us.
The following schedule is provided for your information:
March 7 – Father Edward Peck
March 14 – Father Edward Peck
March 21 – Father Will Lawbaugh
March 28 – Father John McDowell (Palm Sunday)
April 2 – Father John McDowell (Good Friday)
April 4 – Father John McDowell (Easter)
Mother Linda Watkins, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church was graciously invited
us to attend Lenten Services at St. Mary’s on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
During our annual meeting, Dan Domenick, announced that he would be
resigning as Senior Warden, effective the February 2010 vestry meeting.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dan for his
faithful and dedicated service during his tenure as Senior Warden.
The Vestry met on February 17 and elected the following new officers:
Tim Crilley, Senior Warden (Temporary until we call a permanent Rector)
Arthur Cox, Junior Warden
Debby Hampton, Recording Secretary
Dana Burns, Treasurer (Transfiguration) and Tim Crilley, Treasurer (
Lee Layman (Financial Advisor)
Many of you gave considerable thought and time to complete the parish
questionnaire that was sent in November 2009; for that, we thank you.
The vestry took that information, compiled the data, and
presented a brief overview during the annual meeting in January 2010.
The parish was split between seeking a part-time rector and a
full-time rector. At this
juncture, the vestry’s approach is to seek a part-time Rector, three (3)
days a week, with the goal to grow into a Parish that can support a
full-time position within the next three (3) years.
We are very fortunate to have two (2) Clergy that have shown
interest in such an arrangement.
During this process, the vestry seeks your prayers, cooperation and
support as they proceed with the task of calling a Rector to lead our
parish in the future. On
behalf of the vestry, thank you.
